Inspiration: Looking back at 2017 this last week of December is pretty cliche, but why not!
Here are some notable stats and events from THE RIDE INSIDE: 2017 Edition. Thanks for your contributions this and past years…and for the years ahead.
Over 50 posts in all this year, 45 of them playlists ranging from 45 minutes to 90 minutes each.
Late this year I started a monthly feature guest post…which has been a great way to connect with other studio cycling instructors here in west Michigan and in other parts of the world: Allison W (Texas), Brent L (Illinois), Katy M (Alaska). I hope to add twelve more of these features in 2018.
Sadly, three tribute ride posts this year, in memory of artists that passed: Tom Petty, Chester Bennington (Linkin Park), Malcolm Young (AC/DC). In The End, was one of the most popular mixes of the year…100% Linkin Park tracks!
I managed to visit a few other studios here in the midwest…5 in all: A 3rd trip to Flywheel in Chicago (Old Town neighborhood studio last January), first time visit to Live Cycle Delight in one of Detroit’s revival communities…The West Village, Studio 3 in Chicago (Gold Cost area) which is also a Peloton-affiliated studio (in case you missed it…Peloton has dominated the headlines and advertising for the indoor cycling / fitness industry this year!), InCycle situated in the heart of Indy suburb Carmel, and last one, also just a 7 minute drive from home, the growing franchise boutique fitness brand…The Dailey Method (Grand Rapids’ Eastown neighborhood).
In 2017, Indoor Cycling has continued to take center stage in mainstream american life style. Have you noticed all the images of indoor cycling in the news, commercials, celebrity features and other media? Posts on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and even Pinterest are more common than ever.
Spotify is a priceless companion for me and my classes!
As for this WordPress-hosted blog / website…here are some stats for the year:
Over 95,000 views…nearly 19,000 visitors…about 140 likes / comments. Over 500,000 views since I started this blog about 5 years ago.
Top viewed posts (all with 1K or more views): Glorious 371, Whatever It Takes 373, Not Giving In 379, Sweat 372, We Got The Power 365, and Move Your Body 353.
Top referrers: Facebook, Pinterest, thebikecafe.com (thanks Cynthia!), and indoorcyclingmixes.com (thanks for the posted feature!).

Top search terms: for the ride inside (the obvious one), spinning profiles, steve spins (close to my original site name…steve:spin:list).
