Wow…its been nearly a year since my last studio visit and review (when I checked out The Dailey Method). Here’s a new studio you need to visit next time you’re in metro Detroit!
While I’m sorry to say I didn’t actually check out a class…I did have an opportunity to see the grand opening / ribbon cutting event and meet some great people…including the owner and lead instructor, Amy Latawiec.
It’s ironic that this “First Ride” may well be one of the most memorable since I started doing these feature posts…and I didn’t even go for a ride.
I’ve posted many links below from the impressive media coverage about Amy’s story and studio, located in the upper level of the Detroit City Fieldhouse (3401 E. Lafayette St.).
The studio has a moderate foot-print that includes a small reception/check-in counter with a merchandise rack stocked with a variety of logo-wear. I found the perfect black T which encourages others to JOIN THE REBELLION at Rebel Cycle Studio.
The main section of the studio is comfortably set-up with a total of sixteen bikes…Schwinn Blue Carbon indoor cycles complete with performance monitors.
There’s also a private changing room to complete the floor plan.
Amy’s messages of inspiration and inclusion are written in chalk through out. Creative studio lighting adds to the overall ride experience.
For the Grand Opening day and week to follow, all classes are basically free…requesting just a minimum $5 / rider donation to support Detroit Dog Rescue. After the opening week, regular class rates will apply (check out the special Intro Offer!)
The memory-making moment of this special event was after the official ribbon-cutting…listening to Amy’s emotional remarks to the group.
