For Mom: Won’t Forget This Time 555

Several weeks since post 554, and just over two weeks ago…my dear mother, Maureen Mary (Russell) Canum passed away – this post and ride is in memory of her! While she wasn’t a cyclist, and wouldn’t know any of the tracks included in this post, she more importantly was my one and only mom for over 60 years and one of my biggest influencers, cheerleaders, and supporters. Way to go mom…LOVE YOU!

Maureen & Stephen ❤️

So with this tribute post…FIRST, some things you should know about Maureen and then SECOND, some things you should know about my latest ride mix and profile.

THE OBITUARY

Maureen Mary (Russell) Canum, age 84, of Holland, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. Maureen grew up in St. Johns, Michigan, beloved daughter of Sherwood and Edith (Hunter) Russell. She later went on to attend the University of Michigan to study nursing. Maureen became a Registered Nurse and worked at Blodgett Hospital. Maureen and Lyle were married in 1959 and called west Michigan their home. While living in Holland, Maureen enjoyed raising as many as 27 horses on their Arabian Horse Ranch. For many years, Lyle and Maureen enjoyed winter months with their “big rig” RV, enjoying the sights and spending time with friends and family along the way. In her spare time Maureen liked to read, especially if the cleaning was done. Maureen will be dearly missed as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her brother, William (and Janet) Russell; and brother-in-law, Lon Canum. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Lyle Canum; children, Stephen (and Bonnie) Canum, Michael Canum; granddaughters, Brittany (and Christopher) Gray, Allison (and Matthew) Latarewicz; great-grandchildren, Lillian Rose Gray, Frederick Stephen Gray; brother-in-law, Lynn Canum; sister-in-law, Kathy Canum; and many nieces and nephews. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Maureen’s life will be scheduled at a future date. Until then, the family welcomes visitors and cards during this difficult time. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Green Acres of Allendale or Corewell Health Hospice.
