This is my 3rd visit and review of several indoor cycling studios in Metro Detroit (about 20+ of them in all)…and the only one in the heart of downtown Detroit, not far from the Renaissance Center. The other two Detroit area FIRST RIDES were at Live Cycle Delight and Rebel Cycle…both still going strong!
Most importantly…my extended visit to the Detroit area was to spend time with my oldest daughter, her husband…and their AMAZING newborn baby girl! They live in the Grosse Pointe area, just about a 15-minute drive to the downtown Detroit area. On our last day with them, I was able to hit the 6am ride with Maurice (Moe)…a Rhythm Ride format, aka full-body cycling experience.
A little background info on Vibe Ride: a smaller franchise business model started over 3 years ago, based in greater Atlanta area (currently three studios in and around Atlanta) and the Detroit, MI studio. Each location is primarily studio cycling, but barre, yoga, TRX and other fitness programing is part of the whole package offering AND packages & membership plans are for one or all of the options (not limited to just cycling, or just TRX, etc.!). This Detroit studio opened 6 months ago, on July 22, 2019.
I visited their website and used their iPhone app, developed by Mariana Tek (coincidentally the same used by Lunar Cycle)…to set up an account and reserve my bike #11. I also called the studio directly earlier in the week to talk about a drop-in class, Brittany was really helpful!
Driving up to the studio, you cannot miss it! And complimentary (2 hour) parking is right next door in the Greektown Parking ramp. At 5:45am, I had easy access to a parking spot near the garage door.
I could feel the good VIBES the minute I walked into the clean, bright and fresh reception area. Jalissa was ready for me and the rest of the 6am class at the reception desk, and gave me a quick walk through of the 2,500 square foot studio. A great space with merchandise display, locking storage lockers, changing rooms, bath rooms, shower, handicap-able bath / shower suite, a TRX / Yoga / Barre studio, and…the CYCLE STUDIO!
If you’ve seen my prior FIRST RIDE reviews, you know what I think a cycle studio needs: great design and bike configuration, awesome sound, creative lighting, top-notch equipment, technology and a rock star instructor! (not necessarily in that order). Vibe Ride hits all of these: stadium design, about 40 Keiser M3i bikes, integrated technology using Performance IQ and two large HD monitors flanking the instructor/coach stage, green LED lighting against black painted studio walls and ceiling, full range booming sound system, and Coach Moe!
For the 6am Rhythm Ride, it was a Beyonce vs. Lizzo theme and most of the time music videos were on-screen. Periodically the Performance IQ leader boards were projected to keep everyone accountable to distance, speed, and overall energy levels. Moe offered up modifications for riders that needed them…this was truly a full-body ride with plenty of jumps, tap backs, dips, hovers, push ups, rocking and rolling. A good balance of strength and speed work…sprint intervals. Each bike has an on-board set of hand weights for the 4-6 minutes of arm work. Moe had the right amount of energy and push for our early AM group! As you might guess from the music theme, this was an EXPLICIT ride…but it didn’t bother me at all. I was so happy to check out this awesome studio and get a great 45 minute ride in!
I’m also big on the details…the finer points that set a studio apart from the rest! Vibe Ride had plenty of those too: freshly-scented reception/common area with a vapor infuser, super clean and bright space, chilled eucalyptus oil-infused towels for everyone after class (my favorite!), sweat towels provided on-board each bike, SPD-cleated cycling shoes available (and included with your class…no rental fee), free (ample) convenient (covered) parking, post ride THANK YOU email (and text) with stats from your class!
THANKS to the entire Friday AM team…Detroit studio owner Latricia Wilder (what an awesome $500K investment!), Jalissa (more than a receptionist…a great sales rep and studio cheerleader!), Moe (Rock Star coach!), and Cort (LOVED THAT EGG CUP after class…thank you!).
Next time you’re in THE D, get some of those GOOD VIBES at Vibe Ride Detroit – 1026 Randolph St., Detroit, MI 48226, ph. 313-481-RIDE (7433).

Thank you Ellen! I enjoy checking out these other studios, instructors, getting in a good workout…and sharing with others who haven’t been yet. This was a good one!
Studio Set up looks amazing. I’ll stop in when I am on a shopping weekend at Somerset!

Hey Bonnie…I know how you ❤️ the ride inside! FYI, closer to Somerset, you’ll want to check out CycleBar and Champ Cycle. In Troy. I haven’t been yet…it’s on my TO DO list. See you at Lunar Cycle soon! 🚴🏻🎶😅
