Acceptance of cannabis consumption has evolved over the past several decades since it was determined to be illegal in 1937 by the U.S. federal government. Over the past 10-15 years, state by state, cannabis has been legalized (by popular vote) for medical and/or general adult-use (recreational use). While less than 1/3 of states still consider any form of cannabis use illegal, about 70% of Americans support federal and state legalization of the plant.
Known by many names (weed, pot, grass, reefer, marijuana, ganga, herb, chronic, mary jane, hemp…and many more), cannabis has more than 400 cannabinoids and terpenes, that give each strain (varietal) of the plant unique properties and effects on those who smoke, vape, eat or otherwise consume it. The two most-known cannabinoids are CBD and THC. THC is the one that legal authorities are most concerned with as it also gives that popular HIGH, a psychoactive experience that can ELEVATE mood, relieve pain, relax, inspire creativity, etc.
This plant also has an annual HOLIDAY of sorts…and for 2022, is this Wednesday, on April 20th (4/20). As acceptance of cannabis continues to grow, so does the interest in celebrating the 4/20 holiday (or 4:20pm on many other days of the year) and listening to music that either promotes the use of cannabis or compliments the wonderful side effects of consuming the plant.
