I’ve been looking forward to this visit for a while now…since Peloton has been in the SPIN spotlight for the past few months. The added bonus for the visit this Fathers Day weekend…my wife, daughter and her boyfriend came along for the ride. While ground zero for Peloton is NYC, Studio Three offers a midwest alternative to ride PELOTON bikes with PELOTON master instructors in an amazing stadium cycle studio. This clip from their website says it all:
THERE’S NOTHING LIKE THE PELOTON EXPERIENCE.
Studio Three offers the only cycling studio of its kind, with Peloton’s unbeatable combination of the best bikes in the industry and nationally renowned instructors in an stunning new space. High-energy 45- and 60-minute class options give you a full-body workout on the newest Peloton bikes—you’ll experience the ultimate in stadium seating in a studio wired with an advanced concert lighting and sound system.
You’ll ride with the hottest music, live DJ sets and more, delivered from the only Peloton studio in the United States outside of New York City. Track metrics while you immerse in light and sound. Compete on the leaderboard with other riders in the class, or just push for a personal best. Enjoy your ride!
Each time I visit an indoor cycling studio…especially those bringing in $25+ for a 45 minute class, I like to see attention to detail from start to finish. Without a doubt, the two-year old Studio Three has given attention to all the details!
In addition to Studio Cycling, HIIT and Yoga programs are available (THREE in all). A variety of packages are available, depending on your interest in one, two or all three group exercise programs.
Their website covers all the details and you can get you into your first class for only $13! You can’t pass it up…probably the best studio cycling deal in the city. After the first class…rates go up to $26 for a single drop in rate, to a $125 5-pack…all the way up to a 50-ride package for just under $1,000.
The THREE-floor studio is conveniently located at the corner of Erie & N. Clark St., not far from Eataly, Nordstrom and other great north-side spots.
The studio features a refreshment bar (smoothies, bowls, cold press juices, etc.), an apparel shop, lockers, filtered water, towels, Peloton cycling shoes, and fully outfitted locker rooms with showers.
In the Cycle Studio there are ~50 bikes that wrap around the center stage instructor podium. The multilevel stadium configuration, lighting and sound system deliver the complete package.
For our Saturday AM class, we rode with Erin and a great playlist of classic and current tracks that helped set the pace for a great ride. Erin is a Peloton master instructor and Director of the Peloton Cycle program at Studio Three…aka ROCK STAR!
The Peloton bikes, are well equipped with an interactive monitor about the size of a mini-tablet. You log in and see your RPM, resistance level and overall output. Ride time and approx calorie burn are displayed. For participants with Peloton accounts, you have the ability to see class stats and see how your performance compares with others…all on the bike-mounted display. There are no large screen monitors mounted within the studio. A pair of hand weights are mounted under the saddle for a mid-ride upper body tune up.
